  • CollabNet Subversion Connector to IBM Rational ClearCase®

This connector allows you to develop a process for the synchronization of files between a CollabNet Subversion repository and IBM Rational ClearCase VOB (Versioned Object Base). This enables development teams to work with Subversion, leverage its ease of use and out-of-the-box distributed development capabilities, while still participating in the processes that may have been built around ClearCase, such as a build and release processes.

    Capabilities
    Features / Benefits
Transfer source code between ClearCase views and Subversion branches and vice versa
    • Allows you to develop a process for migrating source between ClearCase and Subversion.
    • Developers can use Subversion tools for their development.

Maintain your ClearCase build infrastructure and other processes
    • Subversion modifications can be transferred back to ClearCase. This makes the source changes available to your existing processes that are built up around ClearCase.
    • Existing build processes around the ClearCase make tool can be preserved which protects the investment you have made in these processes. This also allows you to migrate these processes at your own pace or never at all.

Reduce the number of ClearCase client licenses
    • Developers can use Subversion tools, which removes the need for a ClearCase client license. Likewise, you might need fewer ClearCase server licenses if most or all developers are able to use Subversion.

    Better support for distributed development
    • Subversion offers much better support for distributed development environments. This makes developers more productive as their tools perform better for them and it also saves the cost of hardware and licenses that are required to get ClearCase to perform adequately in a distributed environment.
