CollabNet Desktops for Eclipse and Microsoft Visual Studio
CollabNet Desktops give developers access to all CollabNet applications from within their existing Eclipse or Microsoft Visual Studio development environments. This integration works with and is part of all CollabNet products: CollabNet Subversion, CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise, CollabNet Enterprise Edition and CollabNet CUBiT. There are two flavors of the desktop, CollabNet Desktop – Eclipse Edition and CollabNet Desktop – Visual Studio Edition, and both are available as a suite of plugins that provide a natural extension to a developer’s existing toolset.

Unify Access to all CollabNet Enterprise Applications from your IDE
CollabNet Desktop – Eclipse Edition and CollabNet Desktop – Visual Studio Edition unify access to all functionality available within the CollabNet Platform:
- CollabNet Subversion: access your CollabNet Subversion repositories and perform all Subversion-
related activities directly from your graphical development environment. In addition, the CollabNet
Desktops include a powerful merge client that takes advantage of the merge tracking features that are
available with CollabNet Subversion.
- CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise: work with trackers in CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise directly from your
Eclipse or Microsoft Visual Studio development environment. Define custom queries that focus on the
artifacts you need to work on or need to monitor.
- CollabNet Enterprise Edition: work with the issue tracking repositories from all of the projects in your
CollabNet Enterprise Edition site. In addition, access the issue trackers at any of the publicly-accessible
community sites that run CollabNet Community Edition such as tigris.org, java.net, openoffice.org and
netbeans.org.
- CollabNet CUBiT: access your CUBiT manager node and dynamically provision and access hosts in your
CUBiT deployment. In addition, you can directly access all CUBiT functionality, such as provisioning a test
environment, assigning profiles, monitoring build results, and more.
Empower developers with rich client-based tools
Experience increased productivity from the ease of use delivered from a rich graphical client, including drag and drop control for documents and file releases. CollabNet CUBiT users will appreciate the power of having their SSH tunnels managed for them automatically by the CollabNet Desktops.
Merge changes easily
The CollabNet Desktops include a powerful Subversion merge client that simplifies the process of merging changes between branches. CollabNet users can even perform merges based on change sets, which are represented as tracker artifacts.

Provide instant access to projects and avoid lengthy configuration
Easily access and participate in CollabNet SourceForge Enterprise and CollabNet Enterprise Edition projects from within your development environment. Provide only a URL and credentials for initial setup, and immediately see a list of all your projects. Configuration and access to related Subversion repositories for source code management, issue tracking, documents and other project artifacts are completed automatically behind the scenes. No additional configuration is required, so useful information is available immediately without the hassle.
Increase Team Productivity
- Team members work in their tool of choice and/or the
tool that is most appropriate for their job function.
- Information flows between tools automatically, reducing
effort and increasing reliability.
- Rich desktop-based tool provides enhanced ease of use
allowing team members to perform many functions more
efficiently.
Accelerate time to market
Efficiency gains from using a focused tool translate to time and cost savings. In addition, when combined with other CollabNet Integrations, such as the CollabNet Project Tracker Connector to HP Quality Center, information between your teams can be shared more quickly and delivered to the user in their native tool environment.
