Tell Your Subversion Story – and Win $400 in Prizes

"Can Subversion help teams work better?" - This is the question asked of contestants in a new online micro-essay contest. Wildbit, O'Reilly Media, Sofa, and CollabNet are sponsoring the contest and asking folks to tell the stories of how Subversion has encouraged and enhanced collaboration in their teams.

Cost: a story of 200 well-written words.
Reward: one of ten Subversion prize packages.
Deadline for Entry: March, 6th 2009

Visit svnpack.com for contest details, official rules and regulations, and the online entry form. Good luck!

Community Day Recap

About 40 friends of the Subversion project met in Los Angeles at the Southern California Linux Expo for a day of fun with Subversion. Highlights included a tour of the Subversion community infrastructure, a showdown with the git maintainer, and an introduction to Subversion 1.6. See the uploaded slides at the community day project. Look for more community days in more locations throughout the year.

Want to host a community day? Let us know — you bring the enthusiasm, and we'll supply you with free giveaways and, if the timing is right, a speaker.

New Open Source Projects

Throughout this year, CollabNet is releasing a host of new Open Source projects. You may recall that last year we released the Eclipse Desktop. Now, two new code repositories are available for your perusal:

  • CollabNet Desktop – Visual Studio Edition, a plugin for Visual Studio that integrates with CollabNet platforms. Building the source from trunk yields a brand new Windows desktop for end users
  • CollabNet Connector Framework, an Open Source, openAdaptor based SDK that allows rapid integrations and migrations of artifact data shared between different tools in the ALM cycle in combination with the collaborative platforms from CollabNet.

Binary releases for each project have been available for some time now. However, binaries built from the open source code will not be available for a few weeks. Hook up your favorite Subversion client and give both projects a try.
