CollabNet® continues leadership momentum with eight major industry awards
Company Earns Recognition for its Innovative Products, Market Leadership and Open Source Initiatives
BRISBANE, Calif., June 5, 2006 — CollabNet, the leading provider of on-demand distributed software development solutions, today announced that it has received eight major industry awards in 2006. CollabNet products, projects, and executives have been awarded with honors from BZ Media's SD Times, the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), Software Development magazine, Developer.com, the Forum of Young Global Leaders and VAR Business. In addition, CollabNet announced in late May that it was selected by Red Herring magazine as a winner of the annual Red Herring 100 North America award for private companies.
"CollabNet is helping to fundamentally change the nature of software development by enabling global teams to innovate and work together," said Bill Portelli, CEO of CollabNet. "Only a truly collaborative and net-centric software development environment enables dispersed developer teams, global technology partners and outsourced development groups to operate together as one team to deliver better products faster. The industry's recognition of CollabNet's contributions and these prestigious awards are further proof that CollabNet's products have become the global standard for distributed software development."
CollabNet's contributions to the technology industry have been recognized through:
2006 SD Times 100 Award
CollabNet was named to the 2006 SD Times 100 list of leaders and innovators in the software development industry for the fourth consecutive year. The company was honored in the Collaboration and SCM category. Each year, the SD Times 100 seeks to identify the software development industry's movers and shakers. Companies and organizations cited are those believed to have demonstrated the greatest amount of leadership, either through market clout or meaningful technological innovation. The award winners were announced on June 1.
SIIA Codie Awards
The Software & Information Industry Association honored Subversion, CollabNet's open source project, the award for Best Open Source Solution in its 21st Annual Codie Awards. The Codie Awards are the only peer-recognition awards program of its nature in the industry. They distinguish excellence for corporate achievement and acknowledge the software and information industry's best products and services. The Codie Award finalists were chosen from more than 1,000 nominations through a combination of journalistic and peer reviews. The award winners were announced at a gala event on May 16 in San Francisco, CA.
Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards
CollabNet received two Jolt Product Excellence and Productivity Awards. CollabNet Enterprise Edition 4.0 won a productivity award in the Quality and Project Management category. "Producing Open Source Software: How to Run a Successful Free Software Project," published by O'Reilly and Associates and written by Karl Fogel was selected as a finalist in the General Books category. Fogel is an engineer at CollabNet and key contributor to the Subversion open source project, which won the Jolt Product Excellence Award for Change and Configuration Management in last year's 2005 Jolt Awards. The Jolt Award finalists were selected by a team of Software Development magazine editors and columnists as well as industry gurus. Winners among the 89 finalists in 14 categories were announced on March 15 at SD West 2006 in Santa Clara, CA.
Developer.com Product of the Year Awards
In addition, CollabNet was listed as a finalist in the 2006 developer.com Product of the Year Awards in the Open Source Tool of the Year category. The Product of the Year Awards recognize the technologies and products that significantly influence the work done by programmers. Hundreds of products were nominated for the 2006 awards in which readers decide the winners in each category.
Forum of Young Global Leaders
In January, Brian Behlendorf, founder and CTO of CollabNet, was named a Young Global Leader by the Forum of Young Global Leaders, an affiliate of the World Economic Forum. He is one of only 41 people in North America chosen to join this powerful international community tasked with making a positive impact on the global future. Behlendorf participated at the 2006 World Economic Forum Annual Meeting in January 2006 in Davos, Switzerland.
VAR Business Top 100 Channel Executive
In April, VAR Business named Chris Clabaugh, vp of business development, to its list of top 100 channel executives. "Combine vision with the uncanny ability to set and execute on agendas--not to mention make their partners money--and you get the 100 women and men we've deemed to be on top of their games," commented VAR Business.
Red Herring 100 North America
In May, CollabNet was selected as a winner of the annual "Red Herring 100 North America" award by Red Herring magazine. This list of 100 privately held companies in North America recognizes those companies that play a leading role in the innovation of the technology business. Red Herring's lists of top private companies are an important part of the magazine's tradition of identifying new and innovative technology firms and entrepreneurs.
"CollabNet has experienced tremendous market momentum in 2006 and these awards demonstrate the strength of our products, our people, and the projects we sponsor," said Martin Doettling, vice president of marketing at CollabNet. "Through these awards, industry leaders have recognized the growing need for solutions that address the real challenges of global software development. The entire team at CollabNet is proud to deliver collaborative development solutions that drive innovation and increase productivity."
